Wage Scale for Apprentices

  • 55% of Journeymen: $16.50 (0 – 499 hours)
  • 60% of Journeymen: $18.00 (500 – 999 hours)
  • 65% of Journeymen: $19.50 (1000 – 1999 hours)
  • 70% of Journeymen: $21.00 (2000 – 2999 hours)
  • 75% of Journeymen: $22.50 (3000 – 3999 hours)
  • 80% of Journeymen: $24.00 (4000 – 4999 hours)
  • 90% of Journeymen: $27.00 (5000 – 5999 hours)

  • Health and Welfare: $11.88 per hour
  • Pension (NRIPP $5.65, NRISPP $3.33): $8.98 per hour
  • Construction Adv. Program: $0.18 per hour (Employer Contribution)
  • Research and Education: $0.03 per hour (Employer Contribution)
  • Apprenticeship Fund: $0.10 per hour (Employer Contribution)
  • Working Dues (Deduction): 2.8% of total package
  • Upper OV Bldg. Trades: $0.05 per hour (Deduction)
  • WV State Bldg. Trades ACT: $0.15 per hour (Deduction)
  • Fit for Duty: $0.02 per hour (Employer Contribution effective 7/1/2017)
  • Roofers 188 Special Fund: $0.15 per hour (Deduction)

Company-Establishment
Travel Expense

  • First 45 miles: No expense
  • 46-60 miles: $25.00 per day
  • 61-75 miles: $30.00 per day
  • After 75 miles: $35.00 per day
  • Per diem after 90 miles: Varies from $74.00 to $78.00 based on date

Room & Board

  • Effective February 1, 2022: After traveling 90 miles, an apprentice is entitled to receive $74.00 per day for room and board.
  • Starting July 1, 2022: The daily room and board rate increases to $76.00 after traveling 90 miles.
  • From July 1, 2023: The rate further increases to $78.00 per day after traveling the same distance of 90 miles.
  • Payment Schedule: The designated per-diem payment for room and board is to be paid in full by the end of the first shift weekly.

Eligibility and Application Process

Applications are accepted year-round. Prospective apprentices can apply through our local union offices where they will be asked to attend an orientation session and complete an aptitude test. To be eligible for the apprenticeship program, candidates must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Pass a basic math test
  • Undergo a drug screening

Jurisdiction

  • West Virginia: Ohio, Marshall, Brooke, and Hancock counties.
  • Ohio: Belmont, Guernsey, Harrison, Jefferson, Monroe, and Muskingum counties.
